‘Tis the season to be jolly with Christmas carols for charity
Granada Square in Umhlanga Village, will be host to that familiar festive spirit this Christmas with entertainment for the whole family just before Santa visits.
On Wednesday, December 20th, from 7pm to 8pm, Umhlanga Tourism in association with The Rotary Club of Umhlanga and Granada Square, will be hosting their 4th annual carols service for charity at Granada Sqaure, which is free to the public to enjoy.
Carollers can expect to sing-a-long to traditional Christmas songs including Silent Night and Hark The Herald Angels Sing, amongst others, performed by talented Durban vocalist, Shelley McLean.
The aim of this annual event is to collect Christmas presents for selected beneficiaries and dedicated to helping under-privileged children and children from child-headed homes in the Durban area who would not normally receive a gift at Christmas, or whom have never owned a toy.
The community are encouraged to bring along and donate an unwrapped toy or gift for either a boy or girl, on the evening. For those who will not be attending but would like to donate, gifts can be dropped off at the Umhlanga Tourism office, opposite Granada Square between 9am and 5pm on the day.
For those who will be bringing along their children, there will be an hour of kiddie’s entertainment from 6pm to 7pm as well as a visit from Santa Claus at the end of the carols service.
